Chess! A stunningly interesting game! No computers can be compared with the game of chess. Since my childhood I am a passionate player of this old oriental game.
Recently I have faced a problem – HOW can one teach the child to play chess? My daughter is only 5 years old and she likes to watch me and my son playing chess as well to play on her own. That is why it is a bit difficult for us to find a moment when my daughter does not see that we are sitting at the chess-board. Otherwise all our pieces start disappearing or moving against our wish but according to her one :)
Of course, an interesting cartoon is a good solution, but for a short period.
Now I have a concern – how to teach my daughter?
It is easy to explain how the pieces move, but the other things?
At present I experiment with showing her how to “flee” and hide when I have one chess-man and she has another….
The next step is when she tries to capture me…
Does anyone have experience in teaching little children? |
